The Parlors
sfg
Idea Parlor Introduction is a two-hour forum where attendees will learn about the inventing process. Subjects covered include:
- what is an invention,
- how does an idea evolve into an invention,
- what characterizes an invention,
- what are the techniques used to protect ideas,
- what is the patenting process,
- how have people addressed their inventions historically and how do people do it today.
Developing and managing an invention is not the same as starting a business. The focus of Idea Parlor is invention clarification and not business development.
Idea Parlor Exploration is a series of parlors that will help people evolve their ideas into inventions. It is sometimes very difficult to move an idea from a thought in one’s mind to an articulation of an enabled invention. These parlors are an opportunity to help clarify participants’ thinking in a guided, supportive and cooperative manner. The goal of these parlors is to define a clear statement of the participants’ inventions. This may happen in one parlor or across multiple parlor meetings. The process includes exploring:
- where and how an idea originated,
- how to state it,
- how to structure your ideas into a hierarchy
- how to qualify the value of each of the ideas
- how to know if enough effort has been devoted to qualify its novelty,
- how to approach describing an enablement of the idea and finally,
- how to get the important basics of the invention onto paper (or a file.)
Idea Parlor Publishing. This parlor offers an opportunity to actually structure the claimable aspects of your invention, draft a patent application, draft a white paper or some other publication.
- exploring the key aspects of the invention,
- how to state it,
- how to support it,
- how to anticipate workarounds,
- how to sketch out the components.
