About Idea Parlor
sfg
Founded in 2007 Idea Parlor was established to help individuals, independent of experience, learn how to see the inventions within their ideas. The parlors aid the participants to hone the same basic skills that have helped engineers, marketers, entrepreneurs, designers and artists turn their ideas into tangible inventions.
In an ethical, supportive environment, Idea Parlor guides participants through the process of evolving their invention. The goal of the series is to empower individuals to identify and articulate the inventions within their ideas. Being able to articulate the inventions is the first step in being able to act on them. Steering of the invention is then based on the individual's goals, which could include intellectual property protection (i.e. patenting), license generation, business evolution, publishing or merely self gratification.
People are historically very creative, being able to discover solutions to problems in a variety of ways and often at the strangest times. Ideas are formulated on a daily basis, but only a small number ever get worked into an invention, let alone a patent or start of a business opportunity. The problem is a lack of support mechanisms. The US population now stands at over 300 million residents, yet in the last 40 years less than half of one percent have been issued a patent. There is a strong likelihood that many would-be inventors have had patentable ideas, but lacked the skills or resources to act on those ideas. Idea Parlor recognizes this problem and is changing it.
